Possibly some silver lining?

Last night was my turn to put Kayla to bed. We read a new book that I bought for her, I'm a Big Sister!, and she was very quiet while I read it out loud. I'm not sure if she was all quiet and serious because it was the first time she's ever seen the book, or if maybe the gears are turning in her head about what it means to have a baby sister? Who knows what goes through her head at this age.

Anyway, we were sitting on the floor and I was leaning against the side of her toddler bed. After reading 2 more books, Kayla drank some milk and I announced that it was time to go to bed. She handed me her sippy cup and crawled into the toddler bed. She laid down, let me tuck her under the sheets and seemed pretty sleepy because she started playing with her hair, which she typically does before falling asleep at night. So I thought, Hmm, maybe she gets that she's supposed to sleep in this bed, and let her lay there for a minute... then I got up, intending to move the baby video monitor camera closer to the toddler bed (George had mounted the camera on the wall above the pack and play) but Kayla started whining and crying so I sat back down and reassured her that I wasn't going anywhere. I tried to cross the room again, but this time she got out of the toddler bed. So I stuck her in the pack and play, where she whined for a little bit but by the time I made it downstairs where the monitor screen was, she was quietly laying down. It seems that she will lay in her toddler bed as long as I am next to her... but who knows how long it would take for her to fall asleep, and what would happen if she woke up in the middle of the night and I was gone? Should I make another attempt at the toddler bed this weekend??
