Sleep tight!

11:40 pm: bed check (since i promise Kayla every night that i will check on her). I find Kayla sleeping in this position, minus one sock off her right foot.

11:41 pm: carefully put sock back on. Foot twitches a little, but Kayla stays asleep. Realize that i haven't seen her sleep in such an odd position for some time now. Snap picture with my phone (also serves as a dim flashlight during these bed checks).

11:42 pm : attempt to put covers back on Kayla so her toes don't turn to icicles overnight. She kicks blankets off. Then attempt to rotate her body so her feet are where they're supposed to be at the foot of the bed. Mid-rotation, Kayla half wakes, turns her head and bonks it against the wall. The collision is loud and she moans/whimpers in her sleep. To avoid being seen by either girl, i make a silent dash out of the room.

11:43 pm: start feeling guilty that Kayla may freeze tonight.

11:43 pm : tiptoe back into girls' bedroom. Put two layers of blankets on top of Kayla (who has a total combination of 4 sheets and blankets in her bed every night ). Kayla whines a little and kicks of blankets.

Oh well, at least i tried and was successful at putting the sock back on.

  1. Too bad she's too old for a onesie...I think we're going to graduate Jacob to 2-piece PJs b/c it's so darn hard to get his legs into those onesies with a zipper down one side (I feel like I'm going to break his ankle) and he kicks himself out of the snap ones! Plus, he's already wearing 12-mo clothes and onesies in that size are a little harder to find.

  2. they do make onesies in 3T-4T sizes, but i decided not to put her in them at night because of the whole potty-training issue - i think she would have a lot of trouble trying to unzip the onesie. she's still wearing a pull-up at night, but she doesn't make any effort to use the toilet at night and does her business in the pull-up. i'm hoping that one night she will miraculously wake up in the middle of the night, realize she's got the urge and start using the potty (wishful thinking). so the question becomes, do i let her wear the onesie and expect her to soil the pull-up, or do i continue dressing her in regular pjs with the pullup in the hopes that she will one day wake up to use the potty?
