Nighttime Visits

Now that Kayla is daytime potty trained, we have been encouraging her to use the bathroom at night. She still wears a Pull Up to bed (as I mentioned in my previous post, I love to get my sleep and the last thing I want to be doing in the middle of the night is changing wet sheets) but we leave her bedroom door cracked open for easy access (and also because she's a peanut and can still barely reach the doorknob to open the door).

Our plan kind of worked. Once in awhile, Kayla will use the potty at night after we've put her to bed, but most of the time she goes as soon as we make it downstairs. The past two nights, I have awoken at 3 am or something like that to find Kayla laying down on our bed, sandwiched between me and George. I usually get kicked as she squirms and tosses, and George usually snores right through it all and doesn't get bugged. This morning I was even forced to give up my pillow so Kayla could sleep on it -- she said she liked my pillow better and didn't want to have to share it. Sometimes I'm told to "move over, I don't have enough space" and get pushed even though I'm already laying on the edge of the bed, on the brink of falling off.

I've also been finding presents in the blankets. (Being the undomestic type that I am, it's rare that the bed is made before I crawl into it at night.)  Tonight, I found three presents: a green stress ball, a Chinese silk pouch / purse, and a wooden egg (one of the ones signed by the Obamas from the White House Easter Egg roll).
