Daddy Bear is the master of putting Jocelyn to sleep. After her bath, he lotions her up, puts her in her jammies and they read three books together. When they're finished reading, George closes the book and says, "Okay sweetie, it's time to go to sleep."
Oh, those magic words.
Jocelyn rubs her eyes. Every time.
He lifts her up, gives her a kiss on the cheek and lays her on her side in his arms. Within minutes, she is passed out cold. He can put her down in her crib and leave the room without so much as even a peep coming from Jocelyn.
I never have that kind of luck. When I try to put Jocelyn to sleep, she squirms and cries as soon as I close the book. I'll even stand up, holding her on her side in my arms, and bounce and walk around to try to shush her. She continues to cry and squirm and thrash around in my arms. The only way I can get her to quiet down is by feeding her. It's not going to be easy shutting down the milk machine!

Kayla is Miss Independent and likes to make her own decisions. She has an opinion about which pajamas to wear. Sometimes she takes so long I have to narrow it down to two choices and ask her "This one, or this one?" Kayla also likes to choose her bedtime books. Sometimes she takes so long getting around to pick them out (because she's usually lolly-gagging around her room) that I have to pick out two books and start reading them. Then she gets mad and says, "No, not that book! I want this one!" and hands me the books she wants me to read.
Although we have the bedtime routine down pat, she wants either Mommy or Daddy to stay in her room while she falls asleep. Most times George or I end up falling asleep on the floor next to her bed and then sneaking out when she's dead asleep.
