Kayla, on the other hand, had a huge blast! Well, that is, after she got over the whole two-piece swimsuit thing. Typically at day care, when she goes swimming, she wears a one-piece bathing suit. That bathing suit stays at day care. I had a second bathing suit for her, which was a two-piece. Apparently Kayla is very modest, or very embarrassed by her pot belly because after I dressed her in the bathing suit, she kept tugging at the top piece and asking me to "fix it." She wouldn't even leave the car to walk to the beach without us fixing it. Eventually we had to put her shirt back on over her bathing suit to appease her. She played for a bit dressed like that.

Kayla really enjoyed digging in the sand and "building castles." "Building castles" basically meant shoveling sand into her bucket. Then we brought her to the water and she discovered the waves. For a good half hour, Uncle Andrew shuttled Kayla back and forth from our spot in the sand to the waves so Kayla could scoop up water and carry it back to George who was pretending to be Frank Lloyd Wright. Of course, at least half of the water spilled as Kayla was carrying it back but she was very intent on her task as water girl.
I finally convinced Kayla that it was too hot and that she should take her shirt off. Here she is showing off her pot belly.

Soooooooooooo big!
It was a fun day, but sadly, Uncle Andrew's lips got sunburned and then Jocelyn was cranky so we had to leave sooner than Kayla wanted. Here's a comparison of Kayla at Sandy Point this year and last year.

How time flies.... We are hoping to make it back to Sandy Point in September. Maybe this will become a yearly day summer day trip!!

Awwww love the "fix it" comment! We should plan a weekend in September to have the mommy group and their families meet at Sandy Point!
ReplyDeletePotbelly! I love it, but cannot believe how fast Jocelyn is growing. We really wanted to get down there to visit before you go back to work, but it hasn't worked out. Hopefully we'll see you soon though! xoxo
