George came home from work today. Kayla gave him a running hug. She always seems to be really excited to see him when he gets home from work. After changing out of his work clothes, Ah-ma passed Jocelyn on to him. Wanting to color, Kayla told George, "Daddy, put [baby] down!"
George: I can hold Jocelyn and color, too.
Kayla: No! Put [baby] down! That's mommy's baby!
George: But she's also your sister!
Kayla: nods Put [baby] down!
George: picks up a crayon and starts coloring
Kayla: places her head on her arms on the sofa and starts sobbing dramatically.
George: comforts Kayla by patting her back. Kayla, it's okay. I can carry Jocelyn and color too. Tries to diffuse situation. Kayla, do you want to go downstairs and watch Kai Lan? I can carry you, too.
Kayla: Stops fake crying. Points towards kitchen. In a totally normal voice, with no tears, says, Jocelyn's mommy's baby! Carry Jocelyn, carry Kayla. Watch Kai Lan! Flashes huge smile.
George picks up Kayla in his left arm and holds Jocelyn in his right and walked downstairs to watch Ni Hao, Kai Lan with the girls.

ReplyDeleteuh oh. is this what they mean by "terrible twos?" =D well, at least we know George is capable of diffusing the situation. maybe he needs to also tell Kayla that Jocelyn's "daddy's baby" too. =P
