Kayla's second Christmas was spent at home with our "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree that we bought at the last second on December 23rd. George and I mistakenly thought that we could wait until after the living room project was complete to get our Christmas tree. George's assignment during his lunch break on Tuesday the 23rd was to find us a fake tree... after visiting Rite Aid, Kmart, Walmart and two Home Depots and no fake trees left, we thought we were going to end up with a 3 foot tree George had seen at Walmart. At 4:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve eve, with the Jen family headed down that night, we were panicking! Thank goodness for Craigslist! George left work Tuesday afternoon to get a 6-foot tree from a guy in Centreville.... and it was only $20! When he brought it home, took it out of the box and assembled it, the tree looked pretty -- how shall we phrase it -- fake and scrawny. So we called it the Charlie Brown tree. Fortunately, after George spent 30 minutes fluffing the tree, it looked so-so. The next day, we added decorations and it turned out okay!
Sadly, we didn't take any pictures of the tree with the lights on:
Kayla had lots of fun looking through her stocking and opening presents (even though it took FOREVER for her to unwrap each gift):
The Jen clan decided to stay for dinner today and it's a good thing they did, because Kayla gave everyone a performance of a lifetime. She loves the crowd's reaction! Maybe she'll be a comedian when she grows up:
oh my goodness, that kayla is so funny
