In addition, Kayla also uses baby signs for the following words (some that she's made up on her own):

She's quite the character. Kayla sleeps with several toys and books in her crib - she mostly flips through the books when she wakes up in the morning and could care less about the stuffed animals and other toys. One night last week just before bedtime, I picked up the glo-worm she got from Uncle Dave for Christmas and pushed its tummy. Then I took Kayla's hand and used it to push the tummy to turn on the glo-worm. She was enthralled and would not fall asleep. She stayed up until 10:30 that night hitting her glo-worm or her Rainforest soother over and over again. Hearing those songs play repeatedly over the baby monitor got old quickly! Surprisingly, she woke up at 6:30 on the dot in the morning! Since then, we have not put Mr. Glo-Worm back in her crib. :)
Since the school building has shortened summer hours, I've been able to take Kayla to the pool with the rest of her day care buddies after work on pool days. We bought her one of those inflatable floatie things where she can sit in it and cruise around the wading pool. At first, Kayla *hated* it and whined. I would put her in the pool and then sit on the edge on the opposite end of where she was - she would whine as she walked over to me, and then as soon as she reached my spot, I'd get up and move to the other side of the pool. After half an hour or so of this, she eventually stopped and wandered on her own, watching the older kids splash around. We just went again yesterday and she did great floating around the pool. When the older kids splashed around near her, Kayla would just smile and laugh. Hopefully next year she'll enjoy the pool even more!
Kayla's hair is now (kind of sort of) long enough to put in pigtails. Her daddy was kind of obsessed with this for awhile, even though Kayla did not like having her hair tugged and pulled. We have TONS of pictures on Flickr!
Kayla has also become quite the helper around the house. Here she is helping Daddy clean up the ridiculously messy office by handing him papers to shred:
Daddy brought back Kayla her very first American Girls Doll while he was on a business trip to Chicago. Daddy was a little freaked out at first because "the eyes open and close on their own" (can you tell he never had sisters?) and Kayla was intrigued by the eyes too and poked at them a lot. After I modeled how to hold and rock and hug the baby doll, Kayla learned to like it too. Here she is giving the doll a kiss and a hug:
Last but not least, here are two very funny videos (Daddy shot these so I take no responsibility for the "Blair Witch" effects of these videos). The first is of Kayla pointing to every green thing she sees outside and calling it "hua" and then screaming as she toddles down the hill, falling down and then doing it all over again. The second one is of Kayla invading what used to be the poor dog's only safe haven.
