late night ramblings...

i cant believe my little pipsqueak is going to be a whole month old this saturday!  time really flies (although in times like now, in the middle of the night, the minutes seem to drag on forever -- thank goodness for nursing pillows that allow free hands to surf the internet!)

even though kayla is still super teeny, she has already grown so much! george measured her the other day and she was already 20 inches (which sadly enough, is still smaller than many babies when they are first born, but hey, she grew!).  kayla goes into REM sleep, which is amusing to watch since she makes funny faces, and she is able to sleep at night for 2-3 hour stretches at a time.  she is starting to see a little more and will even somewhat track objects. this is all progress compared to that bleary first week!!

although she doesn't do a whole lot yet and mostly just sleeps, eats and makes dirty diapers, i am so amazed by how much God has blessed me with my baby.  my little pipsqueak (or "Pippy" for short as i've started calling her) will never be this little again and i want to cherish each day that i have with her.  she is so perfect in her tiny-ness and is just about the cutest newborn baby i've ever seen. and yes, i'm totally biased because i'm her mom, but if you've ever seen my own baby pictures, i definitely was NOT a cute newborn like kayla was.  it's sad to think that a month has almost passed... i am already dreading having to go back to work august 31st and having to leave kayla with a daycare provider!
